Starter prompts

Paste one into ChatGPT or Claude once Footing Tools is added.

  • “Write a SWMS for replacing roof sheeting on a two-storey house”

  • “SWMS for demolishing a load-bearing wall in a renovation in Adelaide”

  • “Make a SWMS for trenching 1.8m deep near a live gas main”

What it won't do

  • Know your site. Review the SWMS for the site before work starts. It's your licence.
  • Interpret Australian Standards or give safety advice.
  • Replace consulting your workers.

Templates and calculations only — not legal, financial, safety or professional advice. Check everything against your contract and the law, or get advice, before you rely on it. Footing isn't responsible for how it's used.

Straight answers

When do I need a SWMS?

Before any high-risk construction work starts, such as working where someone could fall more than 2 metres, demolition of load-bearing parts, or trenching. The form lists the categories to tick.

Is a generated SWMS enough on its own?

No. It's a starting point. Review it for the site with the crew doing the work, and change it when the work or the site changes.

How do my workers sign on?

Open the document link on site. Workers sign on from their phones, and the PDF has a sign-on sheet if you'd rather use paper.

Does it work in Victoria?

Yes. Victoria has its own OHS regulations rather than the model WHS laws, and the SWMS cites the Victorian ones when you pick VIC.

Running more than a few jobs?

This makes one SWMS. In Footing, SWMS and inductions live with the job, the crew signs on from their phone on site, and expiry tracking keeps every ticket current.
